About Dr. Exmedic

Dr. Exmedic is the online persona of Jason Kodat, MD, EMT-P, who is currently a
first-year emergency medicine resident. He has held a paramedic certification since 1999,
and was first certified as an EMT-B in 1996.

Jason's EMS career started at the now-defunct Kent State University EMS (and maintains
steadfastly that nowhere else he has worked has gone out of business!). He has worked
for small municipal ambulance services and large, nationally-known companies in or near
Baltimore (MD), Pittsburgh (PA), and Akron (OH).

Jason is currently an ED resident at Allegheny General Hospital. He intends to
occasionally pull volunteer paramedic shifts at Shaler EMS.

Before he became interested in medicine, Jason managed to finish a degree in TV
Production. He has been a TV weathercaster, a computer assembler, and a CPR
instructor...though not all at once.
